Proposals are due Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at 5 PM.
The Urban Forums is a series of research-oriented interdisciplinary conferences, working groups, workshops, and other events focused on urban issues, broadly construed. Events range in size from 30 to 250 people.
Previous Forums have covered issues such as organizational perspectives on urban poverty; the effects of neighborhood structures and dynamics on urban health and welfare; globalization, mobility, and migration; Chicago’s built environment; causality in political networks; urban health; and neighborhoods. (More information on the Forums can be found here.)
Forums are held throughout the academic year, generally with one larger conference in the early spring. All events are free and open to the public.
Proposals are welcome for events of all sizes and formats. Grants range from $1,000 to $30,000, and include the substantial financial, logistical, and human resources to handle all other details of organizing the event.
All proposals must include at least one University of Chicago faculty member as an organizer. Faculty may apply as individuals or in groups, and we encourage proposals from across disciplines and units. We also encourage co-sponsorship with other university, philanthropic, and/or community organizations.
